Unit of Inquiry
Today
we continued working on our summative. For our ancient civilization summative,
students will be required to re-create an ancient artefact from one of the
three civilization we learned about. An information package and rubric was sent
home. We will begin our in-class summative on Monday, November 19th
and the due date will be Thursday, November 29th. A kind reminder
that all work is to be completed during class time only, unless other wise
stated.

Inquiry into
Mathematics
Today
we began our second review. We will take it up tomorrow.
Points to remember:
An
acute angle is less than 90 degrees.
A right angle is 90 degrees and
takes the shape of an L. An obtuse angle
is greater than 90 degrees. A straight
line is 180 degrees and makes a straight line. A reflex angle is an angle that falls between 180 and 360 degrees.
In
order to measure a reflex angle, you
measure the angle below the 180 degree straight line. Then you add up the
numbers. For example, if the angle measures 13 degrees, then 13 + 180 = 193
degrees.
When
constructing a reflex angle you need
to do the opposite. You take the angle measurement and subtract it from the 180
degree straight line. That angle will tell you how to draw it. For example, 205
– 180 = 25 degrees. Using the 180 degree line, measure the 25 degree angle and
draw it.
A
scalene triangle is a triangle that
2 equal sides.
An
equilateral triangle is a triangle
that has all sides equal.
An
isosceles triangle has no equal sides.
A
quadrilateral is a four-sided figure.
A
convex polygon is a polygon that has
angles less than 180 degrees and a concave
polygon has at least on reflex angle (180-360 degrees).
