Our next extra-curricular
activity is curling at the Acton
Curling Club. The dates and times of our trips are Monday, November 4th from 10-11 AM and Tuesday, November 19th
from 1-2 PM. Permission forms and waivers have been sent home and are due yesterday.
There is no cost associated with this trip. Students are required to wear the SJA gym clothes, indoor gym shoes, and warm clothes (coat, mitts, warm socks) as it is cold on the ice. **A kind reminder that all students are required to bring and wear a helmet, as per the permission form. Acceptable helmets are ski helmets, hockey helmets, and bike helmets - no pointy edges please!**
We are also planning a trip to the ROM on Thursday, November 21st.
It will be an all day trip so please do not order hot lunch for this day, as
reimbursements will not be given, nor will hot lunches be saved. If you are
interested in volunteering, please ensure you have a Vulnerable Sector Screen
on file with the school prior to the trip. If you have already submitted one,
please be sure to sign our annual defence declaration at the front reception.

Today
we did some fun Halloween activities! One that involved Roman Numerals!
The summative for this unit will have students recreating an ancient
artifact from one of the civilizations we studied. More information to come
closer to the end of the unit! As of now, we will be beginning the summative
the week of November 18th with a due date of Friday, November 30th.

Money up to $10,000 - we can use
estimation, rounding to the nearest $50 or $100, to help us with this. Don’t
forget those rounding rules – 0-4 round down to the floor and 5-9 round up to

Surface area of a
rectangular prism (units square – cm2). Remember that to
find the area of a rectangle, we multiply the length by the width (l x w). In
order to find the surface area of a rectangular prism, we need to find the area
of the top and bottom faces, front and back faces, and right and left side
faces. Then we add those numbers together and multiply by 2 because a rectangle
is congruent – same shape and size.

units would be the area of a desk or the area of a postage stamp. Cubic units
would be the space in an elevator or the space in a closet.
