Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend! We definitely did. We hung around Georgetown and began some summertime chores - gardening, setting up patio furniture, washing windows, etc. We also had our first neighbourhood BBQ, which ended earlier due to the storm that rolled through! Tomorrow is a Day 4 (music and library – all library books are due back my May 31 – notices have been sent home).

Thanks to E for sharing with us her essay on kindness!

Thanks to V for sharing with us the importance of not being distracted by our devices while driving!

Unit of Inquiry

Today we began our fifth project, this time with a partner. Each pair will be creating a two-player racing game. Each pair will need at least two sprites to race, as well as create a track and be able to change costumes. Students will need to create their own code, as some of the codes will not be readily available on Scratch. This project is due Friday and is to be worked on in class only. Please see links below to re-watch the videos shown in class today!

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today we began our last unit of the year – Patterns in Numbers and Geometry. Today we focused on representing patterns. We learned three ways to do this: create a table, write a pattern rule (Start at 2. Add 2 each time) and graph it. We see ordered pairs again in this unit – (1, 2) where the first coordinate is the frame number and the second coordinate is the number of tiles in a frame.
