Good afternoon!

 I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I am sending home a spelling test and their poem/speech mark. I was very pleased with the how the speeches and poems turned out! Great job! PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN! I need to put them into their IB binders.

Oral Presentations Thursday February 26th.

Thursday March 5 is our trip to Medieval Times. We will leave promptly at 9:00 and return by 3:00. Please return permission forms and money by Friday February 27.

March 2-6 is Spirit Week! Monday is PJ Day, Tuesday is Jersey Day, Wednesday is House Colour Day, Thursday is Super Heroes and Princess Day, and Friday is St. Patrick's Day.

MATH

Today we began our new unit, Measurement. The grade 3’s looked at exploring the calendar while the Grade 4’s explored units of time. This is sure to be a great unit! Homework for the Grade 4’s is a math booklet and the Grade 3’s have work in their MMS practice book!

I am still waiting for a few math tests to be returned! Once I have those I will mark them and send them home!

LANGUAGE

Today we began Lesson 15 in our spelling books. Everyone wrote out the words into their agenda and worked on the activities. The activities are to be completed for homework if not finished. Reminder that Friday will be our spelling test.

Today we reviewed the importance of stained glass and continued to make our own stain glass.

Today we jumped all over the place due to speeches. Ms. Soroka’s class joined us for poems and speeches. There are not enough words to say how proud I am of the students. I truly wish I could have sent them all to the finals. They did an amazing job!

The top 3 finalists from the Grade 4 class are Matthew, Arin, and Melia! Congratuations.

Ava was chosen from our class, along with two others from Ms. Soroka’s class for the Grade 3’s. Congratulations Ava!

We were able to complete our Math test!! I have sent home the take home test so please ensure it is sent back Monday! Our spelling test was also completed. We will continue with Lesson 15 on Monday!

MATH

Today was part one of our unit test. They conducted a survey and collected data. Tomorrow they will apply this data to a bar graph, circle graph, and pictograph. Just a reminder I will be sending home a test for them to complete over the weekend as part of their mark!

LANGUAGE

Today we had another run at speeches and poems. Tomorrow is the day where we choose the top 3 finalists from each class!

Please continue to assist your children in memorizing. Every bit of practice will help them. Thank you for hard work!!

MATH

Today we worked on our unit problem, which consisted of creating a survey question, recording tally marks, and creating a graph! They should be well prepared for our unit test! I have attached some pictures of what each graph should look like. I will also be sending home a test to complete over the weekend. This will be part of the final mark!! Next week we will be beginning Unit 6 Measurement.

LANGUAGE

I am very impressed with how far the students have come with their speeches. They should be very proud! We have a small amount of memorizing left to do but there has been a big improvement since last week! Well done!! We used this period to do our OWA (Ontario Writing Assessment) for this term.

Please continue to assist your children on memorizing. Every bit of practice will help them. Thank you for hard work!!

Today we talked about religion. We discussed the importance of the church. We also looked at the importance and history of stained glass. Tomorrow we will be creating our own stained glass so please bring in coloured tissue paper! Thank you in advance for this!
