Good afternoon,

I hope everyone had a wonderful night!

IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION:

October lunch forms and Karate forms are due TOMORROW Friday, September 25…no exceptions!

The Terry Fox run will take place on Wednesday, September 30. I have sent home a donation form, which will be due by Tuesday, September 29. Any amount of donation would be greatly appreciated!! It will also be casual day so please dress accordingly as they will be running outdoors!

The Maples Academy is holding their Fall Fair and Craft Sale on Saturday, October 3 from 10:00-4:00. It will be lots of fun so please feel free to join in!

I have introduced ‘Class Dojo’ as a form of behavior management. Each student will get a point for good behavior or lose a point for bad behavior. At the end of the month the person with the most points will receive a reward. You as parents will have access to your child’s Dojo to see how they have been behaving at school. I have sent home a letter with further instructions.  If you have not connected please do so! Any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. Please continue to sign agendas and check the blog.

All school bags can be put on their hooks upon arrival at SJA, so the gym does not get overcrowded with school bags. Also if you could have your children put their agendas in the agenda box and homework in the homework bin inside the classroom it would help speed things up!

The gym door is to be used before school and after school. After 8:50 that door will be locked and you will have to enter through the front of the building. The ‘kiss and ride’ program is in full swing. It’s a great way to pick up your children and saves you from having to park and come into the school! Please see email as we have changed how ‘kiss and ride’ will work!

Math
Today we played a game with pattern blocks. Each block was assigned a number. We had to arrange them into patterns and see who could get the biggest number by adding the amount. Our unit test will take place on Monday, September 28. A review was sent home yesterday. I strongly encourage the class to study the review sheet as well as their MMS.

Language
Today we worked on sentences and fragments. We discovered that a sentence is a group of words that makes a complete thought and a fragment is part of a sentence that does not make a complete thought. For example full of apples is a fragment. The tree in our backyard is full of apples is a sentence. Remember a sentence starts with a capital and ends with a period, question mark, or a exclamation point!

U.O.I. (Unit of Inquiry)
Today we continued to practice our bullying scenarios. I hope that we will be ready to present them tomorrow.

Have a wonderful night!

Mrs. Hocevar :)

Math fun!
