please feel free to join in!
I have introduced
‘Class Dojo’ as a form of behavior management. Each student will get a point
for good behavior or lose a point for bad behavior. At the end of the month the
person with the most points will receive a reward. You as parents will have
access to your child’s Dojo to see how they have been behaving at school. I have
sent home a letter with further instructions. If you
have not connected please do so! Any questions please let me know and I
will do my best to answer them. Please continue to sign agendas and check the
blog.
NEW BIRTHDAY POLICY - we have a new birthday policy. Please read over the policy below and if there are any questions please let me know!
Birthdays are a wonderful and exciting time for every child. We are happy to have your child recognize and celebrate this special day with their classmates at SJA. But in celebrating your child's birthdays we do ask for the policies on birthday celebrations be recognized and followed.
SJA Birthday Celebration Policy
- Families may choose to send an item in to the school to be used to celebrate their child's birthday
- We request that food items are not sent to school to celebrate a birthday during the school day (e.g cake, cupcakes, cookies, etc.). This is due to the communal area that food and snacks are consumed, and based on the school's anaphylactic policy.
Some suggestions of ways to celebrate (if you choose to do so)...
- Send a 'loot bag' to celebrate your child's birthday. We are happy to send that home with their classmates to be opened at home.
- Purchase a book from your local book store that your child can bring with them on their birthday. This book could be purchased for your child's class and be the Birthday Book that is read in their honour instead of purchasing a food item. It would remain at the school in the SJA library with your child's name forever inscribed.
- Contact the school to rent the multi-purpose room at the end of the school day for a birthday party to be held at the school.
We thank you for your help in maintaining a safe and healthy school and for abiding by the 'no food items' policy for students' birthdays.
Today was an
introductory lesson on Whole Numbers. We wrote out a few definitions and then
completed a warm up activity.
Language
Today we did a
lesson in our Writing 4 language books on different types of sentences
(telling, asking, and exclamatory) and compound sentences (using and, or, and
but). We were also able to take a trip to the library for some reading time.
U.O.I. (Unit of Inquiry)
Today we discussed
how to properly set a table. I drew a place setting on the board and the
students copied it down. They will have a small test on what they remembered
about a place setting on Monday, October
5.
Have a wonderful night!
Mrs. Hocevar J
