MATH

Today we studied measuring in decimeters (grade 4) and kilometers (grade 3). To convert cm into dm we divide by 10 (10 cm / 10 = 1 dm). In order to convert dm into cm we multiply by 10 (5 dm x 10 = 50 cm). We continue to estimate which unit would be used to measure certain items. For example, km would be used to measure the distance from Toronto to Oakville, cm to measure the length of a pencil, m to measure the height of a person.

LANGUAGE

Today we read chapter 16 of Mr. Popper’s Penguins. We did the vocabulary and comprehension question from chapter 14-16 and then completed the summary for chapter 16.

U.O.I.

Today we watched Shriek the musical. We have been talking about types of theatre performances this week so I thought this would be a nice treat.

Tomorrow will be somewhat of a mixed up day due to exhibition and practicing for Art’s Night.

Have a wonderful night!

MATH

Today we looked at converting cm to mm and mm to cm. In order to change cm – mm you have to multiply by 10 (6 cm = 60 mm). To change mm – cm you have to divide by 10 (60 mm / 10 = 6 cm).

LANGUAGE

Today I read chapter 14 and 15 of Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The students made jot notes and I read.  We then completed our vocabularies, summaries, and comprehension questions.
