MATH:

Today we focused on congruent figures and shapes. Congruent means same shape, same size. This was an easier concept for most students.

Key points to remember:

Coordinates can be used to describe locations on a grid or map. There are 2 kinds of coordinate systems. The first is on a map, in which the coordinate refers to a square. The second is on a grid, in which the coordinate refers to a point.

Transformationsrotations (turn), reflections (flip), and translations (slide). For a translation you must also include the description of the movements, such as 4 squares up and 3 squares to the right. Please note that the figure/shape must remain the same size!

Homework:

-Math Sheets – if not completed in class
-Unit math test on Tuesday, April 10

LANGUAGE:

Today we read chapters 4-6 of Frindle. Some students began activity #2 while others continued working on DRA’s.  We also practiced our Student-Led Conferences in preparation for tomorrow.

Homework:

-Finish reading chapters 4-6 of Frindle
-Frindle activity #2 due on Tuesday
-Read for 40 minutes

Practicing for tomorrow!

UNIT OF INQUIRY:

Today we reviewed ways to classify minerals. We also took a closer look at the Mohs’ scale by watching 2 short videos.

Homework:

-Begin collecting pebbles (very teeny tiny rocks) and place in a Ziploc bag with your name on it

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend. We most certainly did. My brother and sister-in-law and niece came up from North Bay. We had a neighbourhood egg hunt and fish taco night on Friday and the boys were lucky enough to have the Easter Bunny visit on Saturday night.  For those students participating in choir the permission forms are due tomorrow! For our Arts' Night we are asking that each student bring in a picture from their childhood...it can be any stage of life (baby, toddler, young child, etc). We are asking that all pictures are brought in by April 20th. Many thanks in advance!
