Good afternoon,

I hope everyone enjoyed your night! Now that the cold weather is here, please ensure that your children come prepared…coats, hats, mitts, boots, and anything else that will keep them warm.

Our pizza party will be held on Thursday, December 17. More info to come!!!

PD Day forms due Tuesday, December 15

A NOTE FROM MYP: We are very excited to let you know that the MYP students will be taking an action to raise funds to send a boy named Brian to school. Our goal is $750, which includes Brian's board, books, food, and tuition. There are three ways you can help support Brian:

1) Donate $2 and participate in our casual day this Wednesday, December 9th. Forms have been sent home. 

2) Participate in our gingerbread decorating activity. Forms and fees have been sent home. Forms due by Friday, December 11. Cookies to be handed out next week

3) Bring in loonies and toonies to fill up your child's house jar! The house that fills their jar first will receive a 20 000 house points! 

Thank you for your donations in advance! The MYP Students.

There will be two shows for the Christmas concert this year. They will both take place on Wednesday, December 16. The first show will take place in the afternoon from 1:30-3:00 PM and the evening show will take place from 6:30-8:30 PM! Students are expected to be a both performances (afternoon and evening). The grade 4 choir will be dressed in all black!!


After care payments and afterschool activities forms due by Monday, December 14!

January lunch forms are due by Wednesday, December 16 by 3:30 PM!

MATH
Today was our last lesson in Multiplication and Division. We completed Show What You Know, which is a cumulative review on the unit. Our unit test will be on Monday, December 14. Please study using the review sheet and your MMS book.

LANGUAGE
Today we had a Christmas Concert rehearsal.

UOI
Today we watched a Bill Nye Video on Forces and Motion. The grade 4’s filled in a questionnaire as they watched the video!

THANK YOU GRADE 3’S FOR MAKING YEAR AHEAD DAY SO WONDERFUL! WE HAD A GREAT DAY. WE PLAYED AROUND THE WORLD (SANNVI WAS THE CHAMP, AND EVEN BEAT ME!!), READ A CHRISTMAS BOOK, AND BEGAN WORKBOOK FILLED WITH MATH PROLEMS, RIDDLES, WORD SEARCHES, AND CROSS WORDS. I HOPE THEY HAD AS MUCH FUN AS I DID!!!

I HOPE THE GRADE 4’S HAD FUN WITH MS. KOMINEK! I MISSED AND LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU BACK TOMORROW!

Oakwood will be hosting their Bake Sale tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week. If you would like your child to purchase something, please send them with a small amount of money!

YEAR AHEAD DAY IS TOMORROW!!! MY GRADE 4 CLASS WILL BE GOING TO MS. KOMINEK’S GRADE 5 CLASS!!! HAVE TONS OF FUN!!
SJA is excited to announce that Year Ahead Day is happening again this year!  All SJA PYP students will be participating in this exciting event on Thursday, December 10th.   Year Ahead Day is a fun and interactive day for the students at SJA to spend a day in the class of the grade level ahead of them (example: SK students spend their day as Grade 1 students, Grade 6 students spend their day as Grade 7 students, etc.).  This is a great way for the students at SJA to get a glimpse into their future life at SJA!  Students can get to know the teachers, see their future classroom, and take part in activities they will be participating in next year.

Gingerbread forms due by Friday, December 11 and Candy grams money due tomorrow. The cost per candy gram is $1.00 and all proceeds go toward sending Brian to school!

MATH
Today we continued working on division with remainders. We used and drew base ten blocks to help visualize the question. Our unit math test will take place on Monday, December 14. A review will be sent home on Friday.

LANGUAGE
Today we had our reading buddies and practiced in the auditorium for our Christmas concert.

UOI
Today we focused on the kinds/types of forces. The four types we examined are gravity, muscular, buoyancy, and friction. We read aloud as a class and answered some questions.
