MATH:

Today we examined area and how to measure it. Area is the amount of surface a figure covers and is measured in square units. It is the inside of an object. One way to find out the area is to count the squares. Another way is to use multiplication. For example, if there is a row of 3 and columns of 4 then 4 x 3 = 12!

It is looking as though our unit math test will take place on Monday, December 5. A review will be sent home that weekend.

Homework – MMS pg 150-151

Unit of Inquiry:

Our unit of Inquiry has been pushed aside for a few days this week as we prepare for Science Fair. After a discussion with Ms. Schwarz, we have decided that there is too much going on this week to begin our UOI summative. We will push it back until Science Fair is over. These are two big items that we do not want rushed! We will send home information next Thursday or Friday! We will also be toning it down, as we will only have a week to complete it!

Tomorrow is the day! Our Science Fair projects will be judged. The students have worked very hard on them and I am extremely proud. This was a daunting task that they accepted with grace. A big pat on the back for a job well done! Parents are welcome to join us from 2:45-3:20 PM in our classroom (room 12).

Today we had a long day of in-class Science Fair presentations. Holy moly were they good! I am very excited for tomorrow! Great job grade 4's!

Homework - Remember to read for 30 minutes each night!

-French – Spelling test Friday & complete the work assigned by Mme. Stella.

-We will be working everyday on our Science Fair journal. The Science Fair experiment is to be completed the weekend of November 19th and 20th. Good copy and display board set up begins Monday, November 21 and continues on Tuesday, November 22. Boards will be provided. In class presentations will happen on Wednesday, November 23 and we will be officially judged on Thursday, November 24. We will be working through our Science Fair journal every day – no work should be completed at home except for the actual experiment! *Please note time change as indicated in email sent out from administration - Parents are welcome to join us, in our classroom (room 12) from 2:45 until 3:20 PM!*

MATH:

Today we continued to look at measuring perimeter. Perimeter is the distance around an object (the outside). In order to find the perimeter, we measure each side then add them all together. For example, a book might measure 5 cm by 6 cm by 5cm by 6 cm. Therefore the total perimeter is 22 cm. If a question asks to find a side all you do is add up the sides you have and subtract that from the total perimeter.

It is looking as though our unit math test will take place on Monday, December 5. A review will be sent home that weekend.
