MATH

I still waiting on some math tests to be signed and returned. Please return it to me as soon as possible so I can put it in your child’s binder. Today the Grade 4’s looked at answering questions from pictographs and bar graphs. The Grade 3’s continued to use Venn Diagrams to sort Attribute Blocks.

LANGUAGE

Today we began our OWA (Ontario Writing Assessment) for term 2. I handed the students their assignment and gave very little direction. The Grade 4’s have to give a Recount on how they helped another student who was always alone at recess. The Grade 3’s had to write a Letter to a new student in the class stating the rules and routines of the classroom. Over the next few days I will compose a lesson on who to properly write a Recount and Letter. Then they will write the same assessment with hopes of improvement. Anytime that was left over was used for speeches and poems. I would like rough copies to be done tonight for homework.

I would like the good copy of the speeches to be done for Monday so we can begin to memorize next week. We will have tomorrow in class to work on good copies and who ever is not finished it will be assigned as homework. Parents please help your children in anyway possible. I am looking for hook (something to grab the audiences attention), an introduction telling us their topic, paragraphs talking about different things about their topic (for example if they are talking about hockey some paragraphs they may want to talk about are rules, equipment, different leagues, etc). I would like a closing statement tying everything in.

U.O.I.

Today we finished up our timeline and began looking at the Feudal System. We read some information and then the students filled out a Feudal System pyramid and some fill in the blanks.

**Please check out this link for SNAP as we were featured in it for International Day!

Have a wonderful night!

Mrs. Hocevar :)
