Good afternoon!

I hope you all had a great day!

Reminder this week and next week are short weeks. We have NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 13 AND MONDAY FEBRUARY 16!

Tomorrow, Wednesday February 11 will be our 100th day of school. We will be doing some 100th day of school activities all day long. There will be math, art, and language activities.

We will be having a Valentine’s Day party on Thursday February 9 during last period. Students can dress in red/pink and white. Any treats must be 100% NUT FREE!! I have sent home a class list for those bringing in cards!

There will now be a FROZEN PARTY on Thursday February 12 from 6:00-8:30. There will be a variety of activities from cupcake decorating to arts and crafts to pin the tale on Olaf. A special appearance from ELSA and OLAF is sure to make your child’s dream come true!! While the children are having the best night of their life, parents can enjoy a dinner beginning at 6 and watch an amazing performance of McBeth put on our MYP students. All this for an amazing price of $0.00! That’s right folks, a night out for FREE! What a fantastic way to start Family Day weekend!! Please register ASAP with Dawn at the front desk. DON’T MISS OUT!!!

A few important reminders/important dates

We are running low on Lysol/Clorox wipes. If we could get some in that would be greatly appreciated. We are completely out of Kleenex and lots of our friends have colds. If we could get some in it would be fantastic!

Pre-registration forms due February 20th. This is in order to hold your spot!!

McBeth/Frozen Party Thursday February 12th.

Oral Presentations Thursday February 26th. In class oral presentations Friday February 20th!

DRA and OWA testing for term 2 has started and will continue next week.

MATH

Today the Grade 4’s learned about drawing Pictographs. These are graphs that use pictures as symbols to represent numbers. The Grade 3’s looked at interpreting data from Circle graphs.

LANGUAGE

Today was our trial run of speeches and poems. It went well. We have lots of friends who need to work on memorization!! We have many fantastic hooks, introductions, and conclusions!

Parents please help your children in anyway possible. I am looking for hook (something to grab the audiences attention), an introduction telling us their topic, paragraphs talking about different things about their topic (for example if they are talking about hockey some paragraphs they may want to talk about are rules, equipment, different leagues, etc). I then would like a closing statement tying everything in.

The spelling test will take place Thursday this week due to the holiday on Friday.

U.O.I.

Today we began our dictionary for Medieval Times and did some activity sheets!

Have a wonderful night!!

Mrs. Hocevar :)
