MATH
Today we looked at
adding and subtracting money. The key to this is remembering to put the decimal
and dollar sign in the right place. For example: $4.25 + 2.10 = $6.35 &
$10.50 – $4.50 = $6.00.
Our unit math test will take place on Monday, February
22. A review will be
handed out on Friday! Our next unit Transformational Geometry will be a short
unit with our ‘art’ project as our unit test, which will most likely happen on
Wednesday, March 2. More details to come!
LANGUAGE
Today we took a
break from speeches and read chapter 3 of ‘Stuart Little.’ We also competed
some comprehension activities. Please keep practising to memorize your
speeches! Top 3 will be chosen tomorrow,
Friday, February 19! Oral Presentation Day will take place on Thursday, February 25. Please note that
family members ARE more than welcome to join us! Time TBD!!
UOI
Today we looked at fishing communities. We read some
information and then answered some questions. Our Urban/Rural
summative will also next week. For this summative, students will be working
in groups to create a map of an urban and rural community. We will be looking
for things such as roads, hospitals, stores, bank, a dump (located outside of
the city), houses, highways, and as we move out to the country we should see
more green land, houses spread apart, farms, etc. This summative will be due Wednesday,
March 2, as our CN Tower trip is on Thursday and then Friday is the last
day of school before March Break. I will post a copy of the rubric on the blog
or send it home within a few days. I will also send an example of what I am
looking for!
Have a wonderful night!
Mrs. Hocevar J
