putting together a used winter clothing drive for Syrian Refugee families
living in Mississauga. We are asking for gently used winter gear such as hats,
mitts, snow pants, boots, coats, scarves, etc. The clothing drive will run from
October 27 until November 18.
It’s the most wonderful time of
the year!! That’s right grade 4 parents. Our annual Holiday Fundraiser
is back and running until November 18. Order forms have been sent home.
This is a wonderful opportunity to begin shopping for the holiday season, which
is fast approaching. Money raised will be going towards technology items, which
we desperately need!! Ask your family, neighbours, and co-workers to support
this fantastic fundraiser... we have cookies, treats, and gift cards! We did
extremely well last year so lets see if we can do even better! Thank you so much
in advance for your support!
An update…we
have had two students bring in orders so far. That is a great start so lets
keep going! House points are awarded and the overall class who brings in the
most will be given a pizza party!!
Aftercare invoices have been
sent home. All payments are due by November 18.
Scholastic orders are due by November
25.
December lunch orders are due November
25 by 3:30 – no exceptions.
LANGUAGE:
Today worked on Science Fair. We began by writing our procedure in our
SF journal. We also began to talk about how to keep track of the research we
found and how to properly record the book and/or Internet website. We also had
some reading time and journal writing time. We also learned how to format using
MLA style. This is so they can cite their research.
Homework - Remember to
read for 30 minutes each night!
-Cite your books or websites for your SF research
-Science Fair – bring in list of materials and the procedure to begin
writing in Science Fair Journal
-We will be working everyday on our Science Fair journal. The Science Fair
experiment is to be completed the weekend of November 19th and 20th.
Good copy and display board set up begins Monday, November 21 and continues on
Tuesday, November 22. Boards will be provided. In class presentations will
happen on Wednesday, November 23 and we will be officially judged on Thursday,
November 24. We will be working through our Science Fair journal every day – no
work should be completed at home except for the actual experiment! Some helpful
websites are sciencebuddies.org or http://www.ontariosciencecentre.ca/Resources/Sciencefair/
*Parents are welcome to
join us at 2:30 PM!*
MATH:
Today we did not get to math!
Homework –
Unit of Inquiry:
Today we once again got together with the grade 4’s. We examined light
that bends and light that reflects. We watched two short videos and did some
experiments.
After a discussion with Ms. Schwarz, we have decided that there is too
much going on next week to begin our UOI summative. We will push it back until
Science Fair is over. These are two big items that we do not want rushed! We
will send home information next Thursday or Friday! We will also be toning it down,
as we will only have a week to complete it! Due date will be Friday, December 2!
Homework – Reflection
light chart (classroom, outside, and home)
-Sign and return your ‘how to protect your hearing’ poster
I hope you have a wonderful night!
Mrs. Hocevar J
