Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you had a great Family Day weekend! We had a very relaxing one. We took the boys night skiing and played Parent and Tot hockey at our local arena! Thank you to those families who donated to Jump Rope For Heart. We had a great day jumping!

Thursday is our Anti-Bullying Day. We are asking for students to wear a pink shirt to support this day. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to watch Cinderfella, a play put on by Mike McMurty. Permission forms were sent home today and will be due back tomorrow along with $4.

Please ensure you are sending your child to school with proper outdoor gear! Students will not be kept inside for recess if they do not have the proper outdoor gear.

A note from Oakwood – On Friday, March 29, Oakwood Academy will be holding A Silent Dance. A ‘Silent Dance’ is a dance in which students are given individual headphones where they can listen to various types of music while controlling the volume.  This dance is an amazing way to foster inclusion and provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in a school dance. It provides a sensory friendly environment for all students at both Oakwood and St. Jude’s.  Admission to the dance will be $15.00 cash and this will include a drink. Please send back permission form and the $15 cash no later than Monday, February 26. Please see letter sent home today for further information.

MATH:

Today we began looking at constructing and measuring angles. We learned that an acute angle is less than 90 degrees, a right angle is 90 degrees and makes an L. An obtuse angle is between 90 and 180 degrees. 180 degrees makes a straight line. We use a protractor to measure and construct angles.

Key points to remember:

A polygon is a closed figure with 3 or more sides.

A quadrilateral is a type of polygon, but a quadrilateral has 4 sides.

3 types of triangles; an equilateral, isosceles, and scalene. An equilateral triangle has all 3 sides equal. An isosceles triangle has 2 equal sides, and a scalene triangle has no equal sides.
