A note from Oakwood – On Friday, March 29, Oakwood Academy will be holding A Silent Dance. A ‘Silent Dance’ is a dance in which students are given individual headphones where they can listen to various types of music while controlling the volume.  This dance is an amazing way to foster inclusion and provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in a school dance. It provides a sensory friendly environment for all students at both Oakwood and St. Jude’s.  Admission to the dance will be $15.00 cash and this will include a drink. Please send back permission form and the $15 cash no later than Monday, February 26. Please see letter sent home today for further information.

A note from Ms. Bancud regarding March lunch orders – March hot lunch payments are due this Friday.

A note from Ms. Ross – After care payments were due today.

If you are interested in registering your child for our amazing March Break camp, please send in the completed registration form, along with the $20 one-time non-refundable deposit in order to secure your child's spot (this could be paid in cash or through fresh books). MATH:

Today we began looking at constructing triangles, using given angle and side lengths.

Key points to remember:

A polygon is a closed figure with 3 or more sides.

A quadrilateral is a type of polygon, but a quadrilateral has 4 sides.

3 types of triangles; an equilateral, isosceles, and scalene. An equilateral triangle has all 3 sides equal. An isosceles triangle has 2 equal sides, and a scalene triangle has no equal sides.

Angles:

An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, a right angle is 90 degrees and makes an L. An obtuse angle is between 90 and 180 degrees. 180 degrees makes a straight line.

An acute triangle has angles less than 90 degrees, an obtuse triangle has angles greater than 90 degrees, and a right angle has one 90 degree angle.

A rectangle has 4 right angles, a parallelogram has 2 pairs of equal angles, and a kite has 1 pair of equal angles.

When looking at polygons, a regular polygon has all sides and all angles equal. For example a square and an equilateral triangle. An irregular polygon does not have any sides or angles that are equal.
