A ‘Silent Dance’ is a dance in which students are given individual headphones where they can listen to various types of music while controlling the volume.  This dance is an amazing way to foster inclusion and provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in a school dance. It provides a sensory friendly environment for all students at both Oakwood and St. Jude’s.  Admission to the dance will be $15.00 cash and this will include a drink. Please send back permission form and the $15 cash no later than Monday, February 26. Please see letter sent home today for further information.

MATH:

Today we continued looking at constructing and measuring angles. We created angles using a given measurement and continued to work on the measuring given angles.

Key points to remember:

A polygon is a closed figure with 3 or more sides.

A quadrilateral is a type of polygon, but a quadrilateral has 4 sides.

3 types of triangles; an equilateral, isosceles, and scalene. An equilateral triangle has all 3 sides equal. An isosceles triangle has 2 equal sides, and a scalene triangle has no equal sides.

Angles:

An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, a right angle is 90 degrees and makes an L. An obtuse angle is between 90 and 180 degrees. 180 degrees makes a straight line.

Homework:

-MMS pg 38-39
-Geometry math test will take place on Thursday, March 8

LANGUAGE:

Today we read chapter 3 and 4 of The Door In The Wall. In chapter 3 we found out that Robin is slowly gaining some strength back and he enjoyed sitting out in the garden working on his boat. It was going well until he split his cross in half using a chisel. Ask me what happened after that. In chapter 4 we find out that Robin has learned to swim, and has made his own crutches.

Homework:

-Read for 40 minutes
-Spelling test on Friday

UNIT OF INQUIRY:

Today we discussed coats of arms. We talked about how coat of arms have been passed down from generation to generation and that we today may not be familiar with them. We talked about how knights used them and how they meant a lot to families. They we began to create our own.

Homework:

-Bring in boxes, empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls
-UOI Summative due Friday, March 9 – more info to come

Working on our coat of arms!
