MATH:
Today we continued looking at recognizing and
constructing nets. A net is a figure
that shows all the faces of a given solid. It is a 3-D shape.
Key
points to remember:
A polygon
is a closed figure with 3 or more sides.
A quadrilateral
is a type of polygon, but a quadrilateral has 4 sides.
3 types of triangles; an equilateral, isosceles, and
scalene. An equilateral triangle has
all 3 sides equal. An isosceles triangle
has 2 equal sides, and a scalene
triangle has no equal sides.
Angles:
An acute angle
is less than 90 degrees, a right angle
is 90 degrees and makes an L. An obtuse
angle is between 90 and 180 degrees. 180 degrees makes a straight line.
An acute
triangle has angles less than 90 degrees, an obtuse triangle has angles greater than 90 degrees, and a right angle has one 90 degree angle.
A rectangle has
4 right angles, a parallelogram has
2 pairs of equal angles, and a kite has
1 pair of equal angles.
When looking at polygons, a regular polygon has all sides and all angles equal. For example a
square and an equilateral triangle. An irregular
polygon does not have any sides or angles that are equal.
A net is a
figure that shows all the faces of a given solid. It is a 3-D shape.
