MATH:

Today we learned about coordinate systems. Coordinates can be used to describe locations on a grid or map. There are 2 kinds of coordinate systems. The first is on a map, in which the coordinate refers to a square. The second is on a grid, in which the coordinate refers to a point.

Homework:

-MMS pg 94-95 – most finished in class

LANGUAGE:

Today we read chapters 1-3 of Frindle. Some students finished reading quickly so they began their first activity. The way this novel study will work is each week we will independently read 3 chapters and complete 1 activity to go along with the 3 chapters.

Homework:

-Finish reading chapters 1-3 of Frindle or read for 40  minutes if Frindle is complete

UNIT OF INQUIRY:

Today we took some time to explore different rocks. We went outside quickly to collect some from the school ground and then we discussed ways to classify or sort rocks. There are five main ways to do so; colour, shape, size, texture (smooth, rough), and lustre (does the rock shine or have sparkles). Next we classified the rocks we collected using the 5 ways we discussed.

Homework:

-Begin collecting pebbles (very teeny tiny rocks) and place in a Ziplock bag with your name on it

I hope you have great night!
