Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you had a great night! We had another fun filled spirit day! Our house game today involved popping balloons! Thanks to Jaiden and Charlie for participating. We were also privileged to watch a presentation on Autism, which was put on by Ms. Hope and Ms. Carmela from Oakwood. Please see the below links to the videos that were shown in the presentation this morning. The first link is an animated video about Autism and the second link demonstrates what sensory overload can be like for someone with Autism. A quick side note - if you child chooses not to participate in Spirit Day, please ensure they come to school with their full dress uniform. Thank you!

MATH:

Today we did our review in preparation for the test on Thursday. We will take it up in class tomorrow. We to recognize that all of the angles in a triangle will equal 180 degrees!

Key points to remember:

A polygon is a closed figure with 3 or more sides.

A quadrilateral is a type of polygon, but a quadrilateral has 4 sides.

3 types of triangles; an equilateral, isosceles, and scalene. An equilateral triangle has all 3 sides equal. An isosceles triangle has 2 equal sides, and a scalene triangle has no equal sides.

Angles:

An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, a right angle is 90 degrees and makes an L. An obtuse angle is between 90 and 180 degrees. 180 degrees makes a straight line.

An acute triangle has angles less than 90 degrees, an obtuse triangle has angles greater than 90 degrees, and a right angle has one 90 degree angle.

A rectangle has 4 right angles, a parallelogram has 2 pairs of equal angles, and a kite has 1 pair of equal angles.

When looking at polygons, a regular polygon has all sides and all angles equal. For example a square and an equilateral triangle. An irregular polygon does not have any sides or angles that are equal.

A net is a figure that shows all the faces of a given solid. It is a 3-D shape.

Homework:

-Finish math test review
-Geometry math test will take place on Thursday, March 8

Today we used our language period to work on our comics. We also read the last chapter in ‘The Door In The Wall.’ In the final chapter, we find out that Robin did indeed safe the town and castle from the Welsh. He was greeted with a very warm welcome and just in time for Christmas, his mother and father arrive at the castle. A very happen ending for Robin!

Homework:

UNIT OF INQUIRY:

Today we continued the good copy of our comic. Some students have chosen to use Story Board That, while others have decided to write it out.  Please ensure your child is aware of the login information for Story Board That. A kind reminder that all work is to be done in class unless otherwise stated.
