A note from our grade 6’s!
Dear
SJA Families,
The
Grade 6 class invites you to attend the Exhibition on Friday, May 6, 2016, from
9 am to 11 am, or from 6 pm to 8 pm in the auditorium.
The
Exhibition is the culminating task of the IB Primary Years Programme. It is
where students work collaboratively to explore a local issue that interests
them. This year’s Grade 6s have chosen
the following topics to explore:
Poverty
Terrorism
Industrialization
Animal
Abuse
Declining
Bee Population
Racism
Issues
Facing Aboriginal Peoples on Reserves
Climate
Change
Some
great reasons why you should attend if your child is NOT in Grade 6 include:
· Supporting and
celebrating with the Grade 6s
· Learning about
these issues
· Being aware of
what will be expected of your child when they are in Grade 6
We
hope to see you then.
Sincerely,
The
Grade 6 Class

MATH
Today we completed ‘Show What You
Know.’ This is our final review for this unit! Tomorrow we will go over Show What You Know as well as answer any questions the students may have. I sent the math review home as well as their MMS practice books. MATH test is on Monday, May 2.
LANGUAGE
Today we continued work on our
stories. Beginning Monday we will be starting our last novel study. For this novel study, students may choose a novel of their choice, however it must be grade appropriate. For each chapter, students will be expected to give a summary and discuss important events and vocabulary. They will also have to discuss the story elements.
UOI
Today we had our Spring Fundraiser assembly. The
storybook summative will be due Monday, May 2. We will begin working on
it next week and will have ample time to complete most, if not all of it in
class. A rubric was sent home last night for you to review.
I hope you all have a wonderful
night!
Mrs. Hocevar J
