Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful night!

Please remember to sign your childs agenda every night.

One form of classroom management I use is Class DoJo. It is an online way of tracking your child’s behavior at school. I have sent home a login for each child. Please login and if you have any trouble please let me know! Thank you to those family members who have already done so!

Important information and reminders:

After school activity forms were sent home today. All forms and money are due by Friday, September 23.

Welcome Back BBQ will take place on Thursday, September 15 from 4-6 PM. This is a great chance for staff, students, and parents to interact and get to know one another. Forms were sent home on Friday and are due back, along with money, by Wednesday, September 14.

Our first Unit of Inquiry is called O'Canada. We will be filling our UOI board with post cards from different provinces and territories in Canada. Students are encouraged to ask friends and/or family that live in another province or territory to send them a post card to add to our UOI board. We have already received some, but would love to add more to our board!

LANGUAGE:
Today for language we had our OWA (Ontario Writing Assessment) pre-assessment. We also began working on capitals using ‘MINTS.’ M = Months, Days, Holidays, I = the pronoun I, N = Names of people, places, things, etc, T = Titles of books, movies, etc, and S = the start of a sentence. Our first spelling test will be on Friday, September 16.

UOI:
Today we watched a couple of short videos on the provinces and territories of Canada. Then we labeled our Canadian map with the provinces and territories. We will be having a map of Canada quiz on Wednesday, September 21!

MATH:
Today we began exploring number patterns. We examined 2 different patterns. A repeating pattern is (252325232523). Within that repeating pattern we have TERMS/CORE (2523). The CORE of the pattern is the smallest part that repeats. A growing pattern, the numbers get bigger in a predictable way (adding 3 each time, multiiplying by 2 each time, adding 2 each time). Any support at home during homework would be greatly appreciated. Unit 1 math test will take place on Thursday, September 22!

Have a great night!
