Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful night! It was wonderful seeing so many SJA families at the Welcome Back BBQ last night. It was a great evening!

Please remember to sign your child’s agenda every night.

Please take the time to label all of your child’s/children’s uniform pieces.

We are having a competition to see which class has the most pieces of uniform labeled. The winner will receive a pizza party!! Let’s go grade 4!!

One form of classroom management I use is Class DoJo. It is an online way of tracking your child’s behavior at school. I have sent home a login for each child. Please login and if you have any trouble please let me know! Thank you to those family members who have already done so!

Once you have completed your order online, please fill out the Scholastic book order form and send it back to me.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Our first Unit of Inquiry is called O'Canada. We will be filling our UOI board with post cards from different provinces and territories in Canada. Students are encouraged to ask friends and/or family that live in another province or territory to send them a post card to add to our UOI board. We have already received some, but would love to add more to our board!

LANGUAGE:
Today we had our first spelling test. Please review it, sign it, and return back to school on Monday. Please ensure your child(ren) write out any wrong words 10X! We also read chapter 2 of ‘Anne of Green Gables’ and reviewed what we learned in chapter 1.

UOI:
Today we continued work on our maps. We did a quick review on what we have learned so far, continued to colour our maps, and had some time to play some games on our devices. We will be having a map of Canada quiz on Wednesday, September 21!

MATH:
Today we worked with equations involving subtraction (the opposite of yesterdays lesson. We examined subtraction facts such as 5 – 5 =0, 5 – 4 = 1, 5 – 3 =2, 5 – 2 = 3, 5 – 1 = 4, and 5 – 0 = 5. The pattern is that the first digit does not change, the second digit decreases by 1, and the answer increases by 1. We also filled in missing numbers such as ? – 4 = 8, the ? = 12! We also found out that some equations are equal to other. For example 10 – 6 = 4 and so does 12 – 8 = 4! Unit 1 math test will take place on Thursday, September 22!

Have a great weekend!
