Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful night!

Please remember to sign your child’s agenda every night.

Please take the time to label all of your child’s/children’s uniform pieces. We are already having students lose pieces. We are having a competition to see which class has the most pieces of uniform labeled. The winner will receive a pizza party!! Let’s go grade 4!!

One form of classroom management I use is Class DoJo. It is an online way of tracking your child’s behavior at school. I have sent home a login for each child. Please login and if you have any trouble please let me know! Thank you to those family members who have already done so!

Important information and reminders:

After school activity forms were sent home today. All forms and money are due by Friday, September 23.

Scholastic forms have been sent home today and will be due back no later than Monday, September 19. There are two ways to order books from scholastic.

1)  Fill out the form and along with a cheque send back to school. No cash will be excepted
2)  Order online via Parent Pay. The website is https://parentpay.scholastic.ca/pay. All you have to do is fill in the four fields. (province, city, school name – St Judes Academy – no period or apostrophe, and teacher name – Dawn Goulart). Once you have completed your order online, please fill out the Scholastic book order form and send it back to me.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Welcome Back BBQ is happening tonight from 4-6 PM. Thank you to those families who turned in their order forms. I look forward to seeing you this evening.

Our first Unit of Inquiry is called O'Canada. We will be filling our UOI board with post cards from different provinces and territories in Canada. Students are encouraged to ask friends and/or family that live in another province or territory to send them a post card to add to our UOI board. We have already received some, but would love to add more to our board!

LANGUAGE:
Today we reviewed our capitalization rules using the anchor chart we created and we filled in some worksheets. Our first spelling test will be tomorrow, Friday, September 16.

UOI:
Today we continued work on our maps. We discussed the bodies of water that encompass Canada and then we began to colour our map. We will be having a map of Canada quiz on Wednesday, September 21!

MATH:
Today we worked with equations involving addition. An equation is a statement that two things are equal. An example of an equation is 3 + 5 = 8. Another example of an equation is 6 + 3 = 7 + 2 (both sets of numbers equal 9). We also examined different ways to write addition facts using patterns. For example, 0 + 9 = 9, 1+ 8 = 9, 2 + 7 = 9, 3 + 6 = 9, etc. The pattern is that this first number increases by 1 and the second number decreases by 1. Unit 1 math test will take place on Thursday, September 22!

Have a great night!
