The Annual Christmas Food and Toy Drive is now underway at St. Jude's Academy and will run until December 21! We would like to welcome families to send in new (unopened) toys and non-perishable food items to be donated to local families in need. Food items will be donated to the Eden Food Bank, and all toys collected will be donated to the CTV Salvation Army Toy Drive Fund. We are also encouraging families to bring a non-perishable food item to the Christmas Concert as your 'ticket' to the show. Thank you in advance for your support.

The Christmas concert will be taking place on Wednesday, December 21. There will be an afternoon show and an evening show. The afternoon show begins at 12:00 noon and the evening show begins at 7:00 PM. All students should attend. The theme this year is ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ We have begun practicing with Mr. Oliver and the other grade 4 class. We are singing ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’ and playing ‘Jingle Bells’ on the recorder. Just a reminder that our costumes will be the grey school uniform pants, a plain green shirt (if possible!!), a scarf, and hat. SJA Parent Guild will also be auctioning off the baskets that each classroom put together and there will be light refreshments. It is bound to be a wonderful night!!

Our 'Baby Basket' is ready to be auctioned off!

LANGUAGE:

Today we continued to practice writing a recount in preparation for our OWA. Our OWA post-assessment will take place on Thursday. Today we began our guided-writing recount. This is exactly how the OWA should be written. We are using a story, ‘Holidays Around the World’ to help us write our OWA and it also ties in with our religion UOI unit. We also had reading buddies, made a trip to the library and continued DRA's!

Homework - Remember to read for 30 minutes each night!

-Practice Grinch

 MATH:

Today we learned how to draw bar graphs. Remember that a bar graph uses bars, has one title and two labels, and also has scale.

Our unit math test will begin on Thursday, December 15 and continue on Friday. For this end of unit test, students will be required to create a survey, survey 50-60 students, and use that information to create a bar graph and pictograph. ** All graphs must be coloured, labeled correctly, and have a title.**

Homework – MMS pg 84-85

Unit of Inquiry:

Today we continued to look at the Jewish religion. Today we worked in our table groups to complete a chart on Jewish festivals!

Homework – Finish UOI Jewish festivals chart - only 4 of the 6 charts

-Write your name using the Hebrew alphabet - remember to use a black dot for a vowel and if there is no letter (for example there is no C) use the silent letter

I hope you have a wonderful night!
