Good afternoon everyone!
I hope everyone had a great night!
Important information and reminders:
After school activity forms are due by Friday, December 9.
January lunch forms are due no later than Friday, December 16.
Christmas break PD day information was sent home via email. Camps are happening on Friday,
December 23, Monday, January 9, and Tuesday, January 10. The PD day runs
from 7:30-5 and costs $20, however does not include lunch. Students must bring
in their own lunch and snack. Registration is limited to the first 36 children.
We are holding a toy and food
drive for those less fortunate this holiday season. It will run from now
until December 21! There will be a box in our classroom so any donations
can be dropped off there. Thank you in advance for support this Christmas
season.
The Christmas Concert will be taking place on Wednesday, December 21. There will be an
afternoon show and an evening show. The afternoon show will begin at 12:00 noon and the evening performance will begin at 7:00 PM. All students
should attend. The theme this year is ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ We have
begun practicing with Mr. Oliver and the other grade 4 class. We are singing
‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’ and playing ‘Jingle Bells’ on the recorder.
Just a reminder that our costumes will be the grey school uniform pants, a plain
green shirt (if possible!!), a scarf, and hat. SJA Parent Guild will also be
auctioning off the classroom baskets that each class put together. It is bound to be
a wonderful night!!
LANGUAGE:
Today we focused on lesson #13 in our Spelling Workout book. We focused
on pre-fixes un, in, dis and trans and adding ed, er and ing to words.
Homework - Remember to
read for 30 minutes each night!

-Finish spelling lesson #13
MATH:
Today we had our Data Management pre-assessment. This is a fun, short
unit, which I hope to complete before Christmas. For the unit math test,
students will be expected to create a survey, ask students a question, and use
those results to create a bar graph, pictograph, and circle graph.
Homework –
Unit of Inquiry:
Today we began to discuss Christianity. We heard from some fellow peers
about what Christianity is. We watched a video on the birth of Jesus and did a
read aloud on Advent and Christmas. Tomorrow we will look at Christian
festivals and symbols.
Homework – research
Christianity and bring in a neat fact or something you did not know.
I hope you have a wonderful night!
