Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! We most certainly did. My brother, sister-in-law, and niece came down and we spent the majority of the weekend outside. We played, had our first fire of the year, and began spring-cleaning!

Important information and reminders:

Summer uniforms are now in effect. Summer uniform consists of grey pants/shorts/skirt, the white polo t-shirt, and navy blue socks/stockings.

The book ‘Frindle’ is required no later than Tuesday, April 18, as we will be starting our final novel study. You may sign out the book from your library or please feel free to buy it.

We will be beginning our UOI summative on Tuesday and the due date will be Friday, April 28.

Aftercare payments are due Friday, April 28.

Clothing iron-on name labels are now available through Alpa. Please use the order form that was sent out!

It is that time again SJA. Our annual SJA Spring Fundraiser is fast approaching. It will run the week of Monday, April 24-Friday, April 28. Forms and information were sent home today. This year, we are raising money for technology and our goal is $9000. If we raise $3000 as a school we get to wrap a teacher in toilet paper! If we raise $6000 as a school we get to silly string a teacher! If we reach our goal of $9000, students will get to water balloon the teachers! There will be a number of events happening throughout the week and amazing prizes for students who participate, as well as a grand prize, which includes a movie and pizza party!! Some of the daily prizes include a gum day, silly string a teacher, an extra casual day, sit on your teachers chair for the day, and pie Mr. Sawatsky in the face! 


Monday, April 24Costume Day – bring in $3 and the form and be able to wear a costume instead of the uniform!
Tuesday, April 25Popcorn Day - bring in $2.50 and the form and enjoy a bag of popcorn!
Wednesday, April 26Pancake Day - bring in $2 to $6 and the form and enjoy some yummy pancakes in your classroom!
Thursday, April 27Ice Cream Day - bring in $5 and the form and some ice cream! You may also purchase an apple or a banana for $1 a piece!
Friday, April 28Casual Day and Dance Party - bring in $5 and the form and be able to wear casual clothing and boogie-woogie away!

For a pledge of $35 or more, your child will be able to attend a class trip to Kidsports Indoor Playground on Thursday, May 11. Thank you so much in advance for your participation. We greatly appreciate it!

All daily activity forms and money are due by Wednesday, April 19 and the pledge form and money is due by Friday, April 28.

Language

Today we began our lesson #30 in our Spelling Workout books. This is a review of the previous lessons, so for our spelling test on Friday, we will do ‘Sparkle.’

Homework – Read for at least 30 minutes

-Frindle was due today – read chapters 1 & 2

-Sign and return Frindle novel study package

-Finish spelling lesson #30

Math

Today we focused on translations. A translation is when a shape/figure SLIDES to a new location by a certain number of squares, left/right and up/down. A translation stays the same shape and size!

Homework – MMS pg 108-109








UOI

Today we began our summative assessment for Rocks and Minerals. Today students were placed into groups of 4/5 to begin investigating their rocks. This time we allowed students to choose whom they wanted to work with. Today we began classifying our rocks using our Rock Classification Sheet form the summative package. We will be working on this for the next couple of weeks. All work will be done in class.

Homework – UOI summative due date is Friday, April 28.
