Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful night!

Please note we have changed our morning routine. As of 8:25, I will be picking up students from the gym and bringing them back to our room until 8:40, at which point we will begin to make our way down to the auditorium for announcements. Any students arriving before 8:25 must go directly to the gym to be signed in to Before Care until I pick them up at. Students being dropped off between 8:25 and 8:40 can remain in the classroom until we head to announcements. Thank you for your cooperation.

MATH:

Today we discussed how to create number patterns. We did this buy using an input/output machine. For example, if +5 is in the machine we can have an input of 1 and an output of 6 (1 + 5 = 6). If our input was 2 then our output would be 7 (2 + 5 = 7).

**Please keep it mind that any operation (+ - X or /) can be uses! Mulitplication charts were handed out to assist students with multiplication and division.**

Examples on the board!

Hard at work!

Key points to remember:

A growing pattern grows and gets bigger – 3, 4, 6, 9, 13.

A shrinking pattern gets smaller – 12, 10 8, 6.

A repeating pattern repeats itself, using a core pattern 8, 5, 1, 8, 5, 1. The core is 8, 5, 1.

We also discussed pattern rules. A pattern rule tells us the number to start at and what we should go up or down by. A pattern rule is always written like this – Start at 5 and add 1 each time.
