I hope everyone
enjoyed your weekend! Now that the cold weather is here, please ensure that
your children come prepared…coats, hats, mitts, boots, and anything else that
will keep them warm.
IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION:
A NOTE FROM OUR MYP STUDENTS:
A NOTE FROM MYP: We are very excited to
let you know that the MYP students will be taking an action to raise funds to
send a boy named Brian to school. Our goal is $750, which includes Brian's
board, books, food, and tuition. There are three ways you can help support
Brian:
1) Donate $2 and participate in our casual day
this Wednesday, December 9th. Forms have been sent home.
2) Participate in our gingerbread decorating
activity. Forms and fees have been sent home.
3) Bring in loonies and toonies to fill up
your child's house jar! The house that fills their jar first will receive a 20
000 house points!
Thank you for your donations in advance! The
MYP Students.
Oakwood will be
hosting their Bake Sale tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week. If
you would like your child to purchase something, please send them with a small
amount of money!
There will be two
shows for the Christmas concert this year. They will both take place on Wednesday, December 16. The first show
will take place in the afternoon from 1:30-3:00
PM and the evening show will take place from 6:30-8:30 PM! Students are
expected to be a both performances (afternoon and evening).
SJA is excited to announce that Year Ahead Day is happening again this year! All
SJA PYP students will be participating in this exciting event on Thursday,
December 10th. Year Ahead Day is a fun and interactive
day for the students at SJA to spend a day in the class of the grade level
ahead of them (example: SK students spend their day as Grade 1 students, Grade
6 students spend their day as Grade 7 students, etc.). This is a great
way for the students at SJA to get a glimpse into their future life at
SJA! Students can get to know the teachers, see their future classroom,
and take part in activities they will be participating in next year.

by 3:30 PM!
A note from Parent Guild: We held our holiday fundraising presentation yesterday
morning and are pleased to hand out prizes for the top sellers. Good job
everyone!
MATH
Today we began
looking at division with remainders. Another tough concept so extra help at
home would be great! Use the review at the beginning of the MMS practice book
to help.
LANGUAGE
Today we wrote our
pre-assessement for our second OWA (Ontario Writing Assessment) and complete
‘The Big Bears’ chapter of our novel study! We also practiced our concert
pieces!
UOI
Today we looked at
what a force is. We used resources from our Science and Technology books to
help us complete activities. We complete a chart, which was labeled ‘pushing’
and ‘pulling.’ We also wrote out questions and answers about forces.
