PARENT HOMEWORK
As per the email sent out a couple of weeks ago, the staff at
St. Jude’s is conducting a self-study. The self-study is a requirement of the
International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The self-study is taking place now as it is almost 4
years since our IB evaluation visit. The purpose of the self-study is to ensure
that we are maintaining the IB programme standards and practices. We are asking
that parents and guardians with students in JK to grade 6 take the time to
complete a small survey by Friday,
October 21. Your input
will form part of the self-study report that is submitted to the IBO and will
help direct further action that needs to be taken by staff at our school. The
survey link has been posted below and only takes about 5 minutes to complete!
We thank you in advance for your participation!

LANGUAGE:
Today we read another chapter of Anne of Green Gables. We also continued
work on our UOI summative.
Remember to read for 30 minutes each night!
French spelling test on Friday
Spelling test Friday – first 4 words of each lesson as it was a review
this week of lessons 1-5
MATH:
Today we looked at telling time. We began by playing a matching game. We
flipped over a picture of an analog clock and we had to match that time to a
digital clock. Things to keep in mind – 60 seconds are in 1 minute, 60 minutes
are in 1 hour, and 24 hours are in one day. AM is from 12 midnight to 12 noon
and PM is from 12 noon to 12 midnight. We can also say the time different ways
– 7:20 can also be read as 20 minutes after 7, 6:40 can also be read as 20
minutes to 7, 15 minutes past an hour is quarter after, 30 minutes past an hour
is half past, and 15 minutes to an hour is quarter to. So many new concepts, so
anytime you are out and about ask them about time and assist with homework!

UOI:
Today we continued summative assessment. Everyone is well on their way
to having a great presentation. I am very happy with the work effort that has
been put forth. As per the handout sent home, students will be working in
pairs/groups to convince us that their province deserves money. It is similar
to Shark Tank/Dragons Den! The due date
for this summative will be Friday, October 21. All work for this assignment
will be done in class. Presentations will be on Friday, October 21.
Have a wonderful night!
