Important information and reminders:

November lunch forms were sent home last week. All forms and money are due no later than Monday, October 24…no exceptions.

September after care payments are due by Monday, October 24.

Scholastic orders and after school activity forms are due Wednesday, October 26.

There are two ways to order books from scholastic.

1) Fill out the form and along with a cheque send back to school. No cash will be accepted

2) Order online via Parent Pay. The website is https://parentpay.scholastic.ca/pay. All you have to do is fill in the four fields (province, city, school name – St Judes Academy – no period or apostrophe, and teacher name – Dawn Goulart). Once you have completed your order online, please fill out the Scholastic book order form and send it back to me.

Picture Day is next Wednesday, October 27. Students MUST be dressed in full uniform. Pictures forms were sent home yesterday. Please return to me no later than Wednesday, October 26.

Bake sale is taking place Tuesday, October 25 & Wednesday, October 26.

Casual day is Wednesday, October 26.

Movie night is tonight! It is always a fantastic time and I cannot wait to hear all about it on Monday!!

PARENT HOMEWORK

As per the email sent out a couple of weeks ago, the staff at St. Jude’s is conducting a self-study. The self-study is a requirement of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The self-study is taking place now as it is almost 4 years since our IB evaluation visit. The purpose of the self-study is to ensure that we are maintaining the IB programme standards and practices. We are asking that parents and guardians with students in JK to grade 6 take the time to complete a small survey by tomorrow, Friday, October 21. Your input will form part of the self-study report that is submitted to the IBO and will help direct further action that needs to be taken by staff at our school. LANGUAGE:

Today we had our spelling test. I will mark as soon as I can and send them home. 

Homework - Remember to read for 30 minutes each night!

- Write a journal entry about finding a secret room in your house.

MATH:

Today we worked through out ‘time’ math centers. There were work books to compete, matching games, and games on devices.

Homework – Find a game online or use an app to play a telling time game for at 30 minutes. Write the name of the website down and tell me what you liked about it or did not like about it. You can write it in your journal.

UOI:

Today we had our summative presentations. Holy moly they were good. We had proposals about building schools, stopping air pollution, building a spacecraft, building hotels, building the world’s largest tower, and using the money to expand the entertaining circus industry…so very creative!! Wonderful job with your first UOI unit! Keep up the great job grade 4’s! Monday we start our new unit – Light and Sound
