Good
afternoon everyone!
I hope
you all had a wonderful night!
Please remember to sign
your child’s agenda every night.
Just a friendly reminder
that fall/winter uniforms begin on Tuesday, October 11th. This means that grade
4’s must wear their blazers and ties everyday, along with their long sleeved
button-up shirt. House ties are also mandatory on Fridays.
Important information and
reminders:
We are still collecting Terry Fox money, so if there are any outstanding
pledges please send them in!

As per the email sent out last week, the staff at St. Jude’s
is conducting a self-study. The self-study is a requirement of the
International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The self-study is taking place now as it is almost 4
years since our IB evaluation visit. The purpose of the self-study is to ensure
that we are maintaining the IB programme standards and practices. We are asking
that parents and guardians with students in JK to grade 6 take the time to
complete a small survey by Friday,
October 21. Your input
will form part of the self-study report that is submitted to the IBO and will
help direct further action that needs to be taken by staff at our school. The
survey link has been posted below! We thank you in advance for your participation!

LANGUAGE:
Today we continued to work on our reports. We also had another round of
Daily 5! Due to the PD Day on Friday our lesson #4 spelling test will be on
Thursday. We may do ‘Sparkle!’
UOI:
Today we began our Canadian art. We are using the maple leaves that
students brought in to create a Canadian Flag. We are also using this time to
have a mini art lesson on the primary colours. When we return from our
Thanksgiving break we will begin our summative. Information will be sent home
later this week about the summative.
MATH:
Today we begin a few lessons on subtraction. Today’s lesson focused on
estimating differences. Remember an estimate involves round and is a reasonable
guess. Our rounding rules: 1-4 we round down and 5-9 we round up!
Have a great night!
