Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful night!

Please ensure to send warm outdoor clothes, as the colder weather is here to stay!

Please label all uniform pieces - both gym and school uniform.

Important information and reminders:

Halloween is happening on Monday. We have a fun day planned. Students are welcome to come dressed in their costume, or Halloween colours, or casual day clothing if students do not celebrate Halloween. A kind reminder that there should be no scary costumes or weapons of any sort. Masks will be allowed but may be removed during class. Treats are aloud but the must be wrapped. Treats will also be sent home.

Just a reminder that after care payments are due today!

St. Jude’s Academy is excited to welcome back to our school the talented artists from ArtReach Mississauga to lead exciting art workshops for our students. Students will have a chance to join the ArtReach professionals for a two-hour workshop at SJA that focuses on engaging and comprehensive visual art activities. ArtReach will be joining SJA on November 30th, December 1st, and December 2nd. The cost of the workshop is $15.00. This cost includes the workshop fee, and all materials. Forms and fees are due back to the school by November 3rd, 2016. Forms were sent home yesterday!

The MYP students are putting together a used winter clothing drive for Syrian Refugee families living in Mississauga. We are asking for gently used winter gear such as hats, mitts, snow pants, boots, coats, scarves, etc. The clothing drive will run from today until November 18.

LANGUAGE:

Today we took a break from language and did some art. Students were asked to colour in pumpkin using different designs and colours – fractured art.

Homework - Remember to read for 30 minutes each night!

- Spelling test tomorrow

- French spelling test tomorrow

- Finish pumpkin fractured art

MATH:

Today we learned how to make change. This is the same as subtraction. Begin with the bigger amount and take away the smaller amount. Do not forget to add the decimal (the dot) and the $ sign!

Homework – MMS pg 98-99

UOI:

Today we looked at the ear and discovered how sound (remember vibrations cause sound) is heard in our ears. We learned that sound travels from our outer ear to our eardrum, which vibrates. Sound then travels through the 3 small bones, which move and send vibrations to the cochlea. Attached to the cochlea are tiny hairs that are joined to nerves. The nerves then send a signal to our brain to let us know we are hearing. Ask them how long this takes to happen! Then we created posters on how to protect our hearing. We also watched a video on it.

Homework – Complete questions #1-4 from today’s lesson. The answers should be in the reading we

did today!

Have a wonderful night!
