Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful night!

Please remember to sign your child’s agenda every night.

Just a friendly reminder that fall/winter uniforms begin on Tuesday, October 11th. This means that grade 4’s must wear their blazers and ties everyday, along with their long sleeved button-up shirt. House ties are also mandatory on Fridays.

Important information and reminders:

The Parent Guild is hosting a movie night and dance on Friday, October 21. The movie (The Wild Life – PG) will run from 6:30-8:30 and the dance from 8:30-9:30. All of this will be taking place in the SJA auditorium. Free childcare will run from 6-6:30. Tickets are $10 and include popcorn, a bottle of water, and a treat. Pizza is also available for $2/slice. Students may bring a pillow, sleeping bag, or blanket and can come in their PJ’s!! Order forms have been sent home and are due back no later than Thursday, October 13.

As per the email sent out last week, the staff at St. Jude’s is conducting a self-study. The self-study is a requirement of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The self-study is taking place now as it is almost 4 years since our IB evaluation visit. The purpose of the self-study is to ensure that we are maintaining the IB programme standards and practices. We are asking that parents and guardians with students in JK to grade 6 take the time to complete a small survey by Friday, October 21. Your input will form part of the self-study report that is submitted to the IBO and will help direct further action that needs to be taken by staff at our school. The survey link has been posted below! We thank you in advance for your participation!

Today was a great day. We started off with ‘Sparkle’ as our spelling test then did a spelling bee round. I was very impressed as we did the grade 5 words as well and the all the grade 4’s did so good! We also took a few minutes to write what we were thankful for on a leaf. We then added our leaves to the ‘Tree of Thanks,’ in which we wrote what we were thankful for. In French the students created Thanksgiving hats. After returning to the classroom, we created our IB Portfolio pictures for this year. In the afternoon we did some Thanksgiving math, language, and colouring activities. We also did a compare and contrast of Canadian VS. American Thanksgiving.

I have sent home an example for the OWA. Students should review this in preparation for our OWA post-assessment on Wednesday. I have also sent home a copy of the summative assignment and rubric. Please review with your child and sign and return to school on Tuesday. Please DO NOT do any work. All of the assignment will be done in class.

Have a wonderful long weekend! Happy Thanksgiving!
