Good afternoon everyone!
I hope you had a great wonderful
Family Day weekend and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather. We spent a lot of
time outside, playing at the park, and our regular weekend items such as
skating, hockey, and birthday parties. Carter also enjoyed his first time
downhill skiing! We also enjoyed our first trip to the Baskin Robbins!!

Important information and reminders:
Uniform reminders: JK- Grade 2
gym uniforms are to be worn on Mondays and Wednesdays. After a weekend where
Monday is a holiday students will return to school on the Tuesday in their
dress uniform. For grades 3 and up students are asked to come dressed each
day in their dress uniform and bring their gym uniforms daily to change. Grades 4 and up should be wearing the
blazer (or house hoody) each day. They will wear it in the hallways and on
trips but have the option of removing it in the classroom. Lastly, our spring
uniform will be in effect when we return from the Easter Holiday weekend.
Our Oral Presentation Day is
fast approaching. Please letter posted below. Please be reminded that Friday’s
competition is only for the top 3 who will be chosen on Tuesday!
The lunch order system for
March is now open. You will have until Friday, February 24 at 4:00 PM to
order. After that time the site will shut down until next month! All payments
are required by Monday, February 27 so that we can process the orders.
SJA Parent Guild is hosting another fantastic movie night and dance. It will take
place on Friday, February 24 from 6:30-9:00 PM (free childcare from
6-6:30) in the SJA auditorium. The movie is Pixar Short Films (PG). Tickets are
$10 each and included popcorn, bottle water, and a treat. Pizza will also be
available for $2 a slice. Last chance to buy tickets will be tomorrow!!
The MYP students are hosting a school wide casual day on Friday, February 24to
raise money for a mock trial competition they are attending. For $2 students
will be able to come to school dressed as a lawyer, judge, criminal or police
officer. Students who do not want to participate will be required to wear their
school uniform. Those who are participating in Oral Competition Day will be
allowed to change into their uniform before their speeches.
Wednesday, February 22 – Bake Sale – there will be baked goods and French pins and key chains
for sale
Wednesday, February 22 - Causal Day and Anti-Bullying Day
– please wear a pink shirt to support Anti-Bullying Day
Friday, February 24 at 4:00 PM – After care payments and
March lunch orders are due. All payments are due by Monday, February 27 in order for
lunches to be processed. After school activity forms are also due! They
were handed out today.
Language
Today was the big day – the day we have been working towards for almost
four weeks. Today we chose the top 3 students from each grade 4 class. These
top 3 will face off on Friday when they present their speeches to SJA
community, parents, and judges. I was blown away by how well everyone did. The grade 4's learned how to write and recite an informational speech in 4 weeks...amazing. I am very proud of you!! Congratulations to the top 3 who will move on to the SJA Oral Presentation day on Friday.

Today we used our math period to do our speeches.

UOI
Today we used our UOI period to get through speeches. We will also be
continuing work on our castles.
Homework – Our UOI
summative will begin this week and will be due Friday, March 3. Students will
be required to create a 10-frame comic strip based on Feudalism, Knights, and
the Black Death (plague).
-Sign and return UOI summative outline and rubric.
