Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you had a great night!

The cold snowy weather is back for a visit! Please ensure you are sending proper outdoor gear including snow pants, hats/earmuffs, mitts/gloves, and winter boots. Students spend at least 50 minutes outside everyday and we want them to be warm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

February 3 – December after care payment were due today

February 8 – Medieval Times forms and money due

February 10 - French field trip forms and money due

Important information and reminders:

Re-registration is upon us! Re-registrations forms have been sent home. The deadline to re-register is February 9 (Please note date change). After that we open up spaces to the public. Do not delay – reserve your spot for grade 5 today!

A note regarding pick up: As we work to ensure the safest and most efficient system for student drop off, we would like to send out a few reminders to SJA parents.

Kiss and Ride runs every day from 3:30 - 3:40pm. Parents choosing to not participate in the Kiss and Ride program are asked to wait until 3:40 to enter into the school building.

Parents wishing to sign their child(ren) out early may do so up until 3:20pm.  Parents may enter through the front door to sign out their child(ren). Any parents entering through the front door before will be asked to wait at the front until their child can be called down via the PA system. This will help to keep the hallways cleared for dismissal and for Kiss and Ride.

Parents entering through the front after 3:20 will have to wait until 3:40pm to enter the building.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our afternoon dismissal as safe and efficient as possible.

Language

Today we continued work on our speeches. Next week, we can edit and begin good copies. Good copies are due by the end of next week, so we can begin class recitals the following Monday.

A reminder that all work for speeches is to be done in class, unless other wise stated. All speeches should be between 2-3 minutes. Thank you for your cooperation!

Homework – Read for at least 30 minutes per day

-Finish ONLY the rough copy of speech if not already completed

Math

Today we got carried away with our catapults so we lost math today! Protractor Hint – Use the t in the little circle and line that up with the vertex. Make sure the 180-degree line is lined up straight with the bottom line of the angle. There are 4 types of angles. A straight angle is 180 degrees and is a straight line. A right angle is 90 degrees and looks like an L. An acute angle is less than 90 degrees and an obtuse angle is more that 90 degrees.

Homework – Math worksheets

UOI

Today we continued discussing Knights. We watched a video on Knights weapons and the students filled a fill in the blank worksheet. Then we created our own catapults and tested them out…so fun!!

Homework – Bring in boxes and toilet paper/paper towel rolls

Watching our clip on Medieval Times weapons!

Let the building begin!

Homemade catapults!

Testing them out!

Have a lovely weekend!
