Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you had a great night! I realized this morning that I did not update the homework box on the blog – my apologies!

Important information and reminders:

The last day to bring in your re-registration is tomorrow!! After that we open up spaces to the public. Do not delay – reserve your spot for grade 5 today! Thank you to all the returning families who have brought in their re-registration packages.

The cold snowy weather is back for a visit! Please ensure you are sending proper outdoor gear including snow pants, hats/earmuffs, mitts/gloves, and winter boots. Students spend at least 50 minutes outside everyday and we want them to be warm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

SJA Parent Guild is hosting another fantastic movie night and dance. It will take place on Friday, February 24 from 6:30-9:00 PM (free childcare from 6-6:30) in the SJA auditorium. The movie is Pixar Short Films (PG). Tickets are $10 each and included popcorn, bottle water, and a treat. Pizza will also be available for $2 a slice. All forms and money are due by Thursday, February 16!

A note regarding pick up: As we work to ensure the safest and most efficient system for student drop off, we would like to send out a few reminders to SJA parents.

Kiss and Ride runs every day from 3:30 - 3:40pm. Parents choosing to not participate in the Kiss and Ride program are asked to wait until 3:40 to enter into the school building.

Parents wishing to sign their child(ren) out early may do so up until 3:20pm.  Parents may enter through the front door to sign out their child(ren). Any parents entering through the front door before will be asked to wait at the front until their child can be called down via the PA system. This will help to keep the hallways cleared for dismissal and for Kiss and Ride.

Parents entering through the front after 3:20 will have to wait until 3:40pm to enter the building.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our afternoon dismissal as safe and efficient as possible.

Language

Today we took some time to correct our spelling homework and read quietly for a few minutes. We also had a chance to read a chapter from ‘The Whipping Boy’ and answer some comprehension questions.

A reminder that all work for speeches is to be done in class, unless other wise stated. All speeches should be between 2-3 minutes. Thank you for your cooperation!

Homework – Read for at least 30 minutes per day

-Speeches due back tomorrow

Math

Today we examined angles in quadrilaterals. We realized that a square and rectangle has 4 - 90 degree angles. We recognized that a rhombus and parallelogram will have 2 pairs of equal angles that are opposites and a kite will have 1 pair of equal opposite angles and 2 angles that are different.

A quadrilateral is a shape that has 4 sides and has angles. There are 5 types of quadrilateral– a square, rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid, and a parallelogram.

Protractor Hint – Use the t in the little circle and line that up with the vertex. Make sure the 180-degree line is lined up straight with the bottom line of the angle. There are 4 types of angles. A straight angle is 180 degrees and is a straight line. A right angle is 90 degrees and looks like an L. An acute angle is less than 90 degrees and an obtuse angle is more that 90 degrees.

Homework – math worksheets - **PROTRACTORS MUST BE RETURNED TO SCHOOL TOMORROW. THANK YOU**

UOI

Today we looked at the different types of clothing that the Noble people wore versus what the peasants wore. Then we had fun creating our own drawing of either a Noble person or a peasant.

Homework – Bring in boxes and toilet paper/paper towel rolls
