Unit of Inquiry

Today we watched a short video on matter. We learned that there are three states of matter – liquid, gas and solid. We also gave a few examples of each. We also discussed other main points from the video. We then began a reading and comprehension activity.

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today we learned about using the place value chart, and correctly writing numbers in it. We also learned about standard form (simply put it is the number – 3, 258, 111). Number written form is writing the number using both numbers and words (3 million, 2 hundred 58 thousand, 111). Expanded form is when we take the number and break it down (3, 258, 111 = 3,000,000 + 200,000 + 50,000 + 8,000 + 100 + 10 + 1) – we take each digit and then add zeros!
