Unit of Inquiry

Today we continued looking at the three states of matter. We reviewed what the three states are and examples. Then we conducted some experiments. In our first experiment, we found out that solids do not take the shape of their container. In our second experiment, we realized that liquids take that shape of a given container and that gases also take the shape of the container and can be compressed. In our third experiment, we found out that volume stays the same. We also went over the reading questions from last night!

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today we learned about ordering and comparing numbers. We used greater than, less than, and equal signs (<, >, =). Remember that the alligator mouth eats the bigger number! We also took up the homework together.

Points to remember:

Standard form - simply put it is the number – 3, 258, 111.

Number written form is writing the number using both numbers and words (3 million, 2 hundred 58 thousand, 111).

Expanded form is when we take the number and break it down (3, 258, 111 = 3,000,000 + 200,000 + 50,000 + 8,000 + 100 + 10 + 1) – we take each digit and then add zeros!

Beautiful day to read outside!!

Have a wonderful night!
