Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful day! Tomorrow is a Day 5 and our field trip to the ROM is on Thursday, November 21st. Students will be required to wear their full winter uniform, including blazers – no house hoodies please. Be sure to pack a disposable lunch. We will be leaving a little before 10 AM and arriving back sometime around 3 PM, traffic dependent of course. Thank you to Mr. Farooq for volunteering. If you are interested in volunteering, please ensure you have a Vulnerable Sector Screen on file with the school prior to the trip. If you have already submitted one, please be sure to sign our annual defence declaration at the front reception.

Our Christmas Concert rehearsals are well underway. We are dancing to Justin Bieber's 'Santa Claus is Comin to Town'. A kind reminder to send in the cash for the concert costumes. Please see the link below for our song and the finale song.

Unit of Inquiry

Today we worked on our summative!

The summative for this unit will have students recreating an ancient artifact from one of the civilizations we studied. I hope to send home the summative package tomorrow. As of now, we will be beginning the summative the week of November 18th with a due date of Thursday, November 28th.

Inquiry into Mathematics
Today we learned about numbers in the media. We often see and read large number in newspapers and magazines and we often hear about them on the radio. Most large numbers are written in short form instead of having to write the large number in stardard form. For example, 5 ½ million is written in standard form as 5, 500, 000. 42, 400, 000 can be written as the decimal 42.4 million. Keep in mind the rounding rules; 0-4 round to the floor, 5-9 round to the sky.
As of now our test will be Friday, December 13th.
