Good
afternoon,
I hope
everyone had a great weekend!
Just a reminder to dress
according to the ever-changing weather!
Spring/Summer uniforms are
in effect!
One of our MPY students,
Andrew, is doing his final project of the year on homelessness and how to stop
it. He made a wonderful presentation this morning during announcements. As part
of his initiative, he will be doing a sock and food drive beginning tomorrow.
If you would like to participate, please bring in packages of socks (kids
and/or adults) and any food drive items, such as pastas, soups, hygiene items,
diapers, and other baby items, to the classroom and I will pass them along to
Andrew. Thank you in advance for you participation.
IMPORTANT DATES AND
INFORMATION:

Spelling Bee information sheet and
word list went home last week. Please begin to study these words!
A note from our grade 6’s!
Dear
SJA Families,
The
Grade 6 class invites you to attend the Exhibition on Friday, May 6, 2016, from
9 am to 11 am, or from 6 pm to 8 pm in the auditorium.
The
Exhibition is the culminating task of the IB Primary Years Programme. It is
where students work collaboratively to explore a local issue that interests
them. This year’s Grade 6s have chosen
the following topics to explore:
Poverty
Terrorism
Industrialization
Animal
Abuse
Declining
Bee Population
Racism
Issues
Facing Aboriginal Peoples on Reserves
Climate
Change
Some
great reasons why you should attend if your child is NOT in Grade 6 include:
· Supporting and
celebrating with the Grade 6s
· Learning about
these issues
· Being aware of
what will be expected of your child when they are in Grade 6
We
hope to see you then.
Sincerely,
The
Grade 6 Class

MATH
Today we had our math test. I will
mark as soon as I can and send home for you to look at. This was a tough unit
for students.
LANGUAGE
Today we began our lesson #30
spelling activities. We also began our final novel study.
UOI
Today some of us began to share our
stories. I have to say I was a bit disappointed this morning to find out that
just over half of the class had their stories ready to go. I expect much more
from my grade 4 students. Tomorrow is the deadline!
I hope you all have a wonderful
night!
