Good afternoon,

I hope everyone had a great night!

Some of our students are participating in a track meet tomorrow. We will be leaving at 7:15! Please be sure to pack a lunch, water, a hat, sunscreen, running shoes, and an SJA gym shirt.

Please review this important message from Mrs. Smith regarding after care:

This is just a friendly reminder that June after care pay-as-you-go system begins on Wednesday.

We begin charging at 3:45 pm and ask that you come prepared with change as payment must be tendered before you sign-out your children to avoid invoicing and confusion over the summer months.

You may fill and hand in the pre-paid forms up until Wednesday.

We have begun uniform checks again! These will happen every now and again to ensure that all SJA students are wearing proper uniform. Uniform pieces must be bought through Apla and Multiform Canada. Uniform violations will be sent home if a student is not wearing the proper piece of clothing! First violation: a warning to parents. Second violation: the office will notify a parent and the correct uniform piece must be brought to the school the same day. Third violation: uniform piece will be sent home at parent’s expense. Fourth violation: community service hours will be assigned. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

The last day of school, Friday, June 10 will now be a full day with Kiss n Ride beginning at 3:30 and after care running from 3:45-6.

Please be aware of our new Kiss n Ride and after school pick up procedure! We thank you for your patience as we work out our kinks! Please review the email below:

Dear SJA Families,

We are excited to announce the newest addition to the SJA campus- a full soccer field! Once completed, the students at SJA will be able to use this field as part of their PE classes, and as an integral part of our extra-curricular program.

The soccer field is being constructed in a section of the SJA parking lot. This creates a need to modify the Kiss-and-Ride system, as the route previously used is now occupied by the soccer field turf.

Beginning today, May 17th, the 'exit' lane of the parking lot will be split into two lanes, with cars passing in and out. The entrance to the parking lot will also be modified. These areas will be clearly marked with pylons, and staff will be on hand to provide assistance to cars entering and exiting the Kiss-and-Ride.

Parent/Guardians not looking to join the Kiss-and-Ride system are encouraged to use the Meadowvale 4 Rinks parking lot to park their cars. The parking lot will be very busy during Kiss-and-Ride times (3:30- 3:40), though parking spaces will be available if desired. The front door will be unlocked right at 3:30pm to allow parents who have parked to have access to the school to pick up their children.

We thank you for your patience while we work on perfecting this new system. Please let us know if you have any questions.

MATH
Today we looked at predicting outcomes. We used fractions to describe the likely hood of spinners. We also studied exploring prediction. For this lesson we did some trials as a class. We predicted out of 10 times how many heads and tails we would get. Then we actually did it. We also did this experiment with coloured paper clips! Our math test will take place on Friday, June 3.

Our predictions and actual outcomes from our experiment today!

LANGUAGE
We continued work on our UOI plant summative. We were also pulled for a rehearsal in the auditorium!

UOI
We continued our UOI plant summative. It will be a two person project where they have to create a plant and fact sheet stating plant’s name, basic needs, how need are met, where it lives, and an illustration. I have attached a photo of the summative. The due date will be Friday, June 3. Presentations will begin in the morning.

I hope you all have a wonderful night!

Just a reminder that I am at the track meet tomorrow. I believe Ms. Barros will be covering. I look forward to seeing you Thursday!

Mrs. Hocevar J
