Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a night!

Our RBG trip is this Thursday. It will take place rain or shine. Gym uniform is required, as well as proper outdoor gear as we will be spending our time outside. We will leave after lunch at 11 and return around 3.

Important information and reminders:

We have finally added up the money from last week and now have the grand total for the SPRING FUNDRAISER!! SJA raised $11, 537. 74….I can’t believe it! What an amazing job! Mr. Foster’s Grade 1 class took top place by raising over $800 and Ms. Bancud’s SK class took second place by raising just over $750. Well-done, SJA! You have won your chance to water balloon your teachers…date and time to be announced!

A note from your Grade 6 class : Dear SJA Families,
The Grade 6 class invites you to attend the Exhibition on Friday, May 5, 2017, from 9 am to 11 am, or from 6 pm to 8 pm in the auditorium.
The Exhibition is the culminating task of the IB Primary Years Programme. It is where students work collaboratively to explore a local issue that interests them.  This year’s Grade 6s have chosen the following topics to explore:

Terrorism
Elder Abuse/Neglect
Physician-Assisted Dying
Developmental Disabilities
Animal Abuse/Neglect
Immigration
Garbage Pollution
Climate Change
Crime

Some great reasons why you should attend if your child is NOT in Grade 6 include:
·         Supporting and celebrating with the Grade 6s
·         Learning about these issues
·         Being aware of what will be expected of your child when they are in Grade 6
We hope to see you then.

Sincerely,
The Grade 6 Class

We will be viewing the presentations next Friday. This is a 6 week long project that the Grade 6’s work very hard on. So please feel free to come and support the Grade 6’s!

Today we reviewed what an Acrostic poem was. We took some time to share some of our Acrostic poems from yesterday. Today we learned about Haiku poems. A Haiku poem is a Japanese poem about nature. It has 3 lines. Line 1 has 5 syllables, line 2 has 7 syllables, and line 3 has 5 syllables. We created one together as a class and then we created our own.
