Good afternoon,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We
celebrated our youngest sons first birthday, so it was a great weekend! Thank
you to Akash for singing O’Canada this morning and to Eghosa who put up a
valiant fight during the name the flag segment in announcements.
The ladies raised just over $22.00 today
for Sick Kids.
A
few important reminders
We are out of water and Kleenex and running
low on Lysol/Clorox wipes. If we could get some in that would be greatly
appreciated.
Lunch forms are due Friday January 23rd.
Late forms will not be accepted!
Pre-registration forms due February 20th
Please hand in after school money if
applicable.
PLEASE send in $5 for food for Greece. We
have collected 2 tri-fold boards and 2 Bristol boards…thank you to those who
brought them.
MATH
We continued learning about multiplication.
The grade 4’s worked with estimating problems and word problems. The Grade 3’s
worked on multiplying by 1 and 0. Word problems were introduced and they did
very well!!
·
I will be giving a mini quiz on Thursday to make sure we have the
hang of multiplication before going onto division. A rubric will be used to
assess the students. THIS IS NOT THEIR FINAL TEST.
LANGUAGE
Spelling tests were handed back. Overall I
was happy with the results, however the mistakes that were made are fixable for
the next test…using capitals when there shouldn’t be!! We will be doing a
lesson on capitals later this week. We did lesson 9 from our spelling books.
Finally we worked on our Greece project.
U.O.I.
Today we discussed the importance of eating
fruits and vegetables. We looked at two articles…reasons to eat vegetables and
reasons to eat fruit. The students then completed two worksheets…which fruit
and vegetable am I and colour maze. Tomorrow we will be taking about digestion
so if there is spare time tonight at home, please research that topic.
Describing thier new gym games!
Working hard duing U.O.I.
Have a wonderful night!
Mrs. Hocevar
