Hello!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

MATH

Today was our introduction to multiplication and division. We did a mini lesson and then the students wrote down the multiplication rules and pasted a multiplication chart in their math notebooks.

MULTIPLICATION RULES
1.     Any number x 0 = 0
3x0=0                         234x0=0

2.     Any number x 1 = itself
6x1=6             34x1=34

3.     2 x a number is doubled
4x2=8             4+4=8
20x2=40        20+20=40

4.     4 x a number is doubled, then doubled again
6x4=24          6+6=12 and 12+12=24

5.     5 x a number = a number that will end in 0 or 5. You can also skip count!
1x5=5             6x5=30          11x5=55

6.     9 x tables = the hand trick
Hold your hands in front of you. Go left to right. For 9 x 3, put down your third finger on your left hand. The fingers on the left are worth 10 (2 fingers = 20). The fingers on your right are worth one (7 fingers = 7).

20 + 7 = 27 so therefore 9 x 3 = 27.

7.     10 x a number = just add a 0 to the number you are multiplying
7x10=70        100x10=1000

LANGUAGE

Today we started up our spelling. The students are working on lesson 8. They wrote their spelling words in their agenda and then completed the assigned work pages. There will be a spelling test this Friday.

U.O.I.

Today we continued talking about healthy snacks. We reviewed how snacking healthy helps our body. The students then completed a vending machine work page.
