MATH
Today we continued looking at fractions. Both the grade
3’s and 4’s looked at fractions that were between 0 and 1. They had to find
fractions that were bigger than ½ but smaller that 1. They also looked at
exploring fractions of a length.
LANGUAGE
Today we were back reading Mr. Popper’s Penguins. We
read chapter 6 out loud as a class. We completed our vocabulary, comprehension
questions, our summary, and made a new prediction. We also added a drama aspect
by acting out a scene.
U.O.I.
We were able to do an activity on rocks and minerals
today! We examined sedimentary more closely and learned about three types of
sedimentary rocks. We did an experiment, which consisted of a mason jar, which
was filled with a layer of sand, layer of soil and a layer of rocks. They had
to draw a picture of what it looked like before anything was done and make a prediction
of what would happen when the jar is shaken. Then they had to write if there
prediction was write or wrong and draw a new picture of what the jars looked
like after shaking. One lucky student from each table got to shake the jar for
20 seconds. After the jar was shaken the sand magically engulfed the soil and
rocks. All we could see was sand!!
The mason jars before!
Christina was a lucky winner!
Sakshi was a lucky winner!
Eghosa was a lucky winner!
Let the shaking begin!
The final product after a 20 second shaking!
Remember to bring a litter less lunch for 1000 house points and to wear Earth colours tomorrow!
Have a wonderful night!
Mrs. Hocevar J
