MATH

Most of the students are having a tough time with fractions. Any assistance from you with homework would be greatly appreciated. I do try my best to use as much class time as I can to go over work with my students but there never seems to be enough time in a day! Today we spent almost 2 hours on our topic for today as we didn’t have French. I took that extra time to correct, as a class, the questions from the lesson and explain more thoroughly how to come up with the answers. The grade 4’s looked at different names for fractions (what fractions are equivalent to other fractions). For example, ½ = 4/8 and 6/12 or 1/3 = 3/9 or 4/12. The grade 3’s looked at using pictures to describe fractions. For example if a flag has 3 equal part, 2 are green and 1 is white then the fractions are 1/3 is white and 2/3 are green.

LANGUAGE

Today we read chapter 7 of Mr. Popper’s Penguins. We completed our summaries, vocabulary words, and comprehension questions.

U.O.I.

Today we finished our brainstorming for our igneous rock story. Then students began working on their rough copies. Good copies will be due Monday April 27. I am looking for a length of ¾ of a page to a page single-spaced. If double-spaced I would like 1 and ½ pages to 2 pages. Please assist your child with spelling, capitals, and grammar.
