Inquiry into Mathematics

Today we went over our learning goals and success criteria for our Number Patterns unit and learned about Input and Output machines. We can use Input/Output machines to illustrate pattern rules. These machines can be recorded in a table. We also learned about pattern rules. A pattern rules tells us what to do. For example, 'Start at 2. Add 3 each time'. Therefore I will start at 2 and add 3 each time - 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, etc.

This is a short unit, with only 5 lessons. As of know, our test for Number Patterns will be on Tuesday, October 15th.

Inquiry into Language

Today we continued our project on Portugal…please remember your books and devices to complete your research! We also read with our reading buddies.

Percy Jackson - Please remember that comprehension questions are to be in full sentences that begin with a capital letter and ending with either a period, exclamation point, or question mark. Please use the book to help with spelling and to be sure to answer each question completely, with support from the book. I have conferenced with each student as to my expectations moving forward.

Our annual International Day is quickly approaching and will take place on Thursday, October 17th. This year the country we will be learning about is Portugal. Beginning Tuesday, and for the following few weeks, we will be busy researching and putting together a fabulous presentation on our country. Students will need devices and books from a local library to complete their research. Please see the following groups and topics for this project.
