Good afternoon,
I hope everyone
enjoyed their night!
Just a reminder
that winter uniforms are now in effect. Thank you to everyone for having their
blazers. Just a reminder that they need the long sleeve button up shirt,
sweater/sweater vest, tie (house colour tie on Friday’s), blazer, pant/skirt,
navy blue socks/tights and black shoes.
The grade 4's were very chatty today. I really do hope that this does not continue! I had to create a lunch time seating plan as there has been and continue to be some problems at lunch. Needless to say some of the students were not overly happy with me. I have 'ruined their lives!'
HOUSE TIE IS TO BE WORN TOMORROW!

Math
Today we looked at
using mental math to do subtraction questions. We learned about two ways to
help us. One is the ‘friendly number’ when we add 1 or 2 to each number to make
it easier to subtract. For example 517 -299 becomes 518 – 300 = 218. We also
did ‘counting up’ where we count up from the smaller number. For example
432-220, we take 220 and add 100 then 100 again which gets us to 420. Then we
added 10 to get us to 430 and then we added 2 to get us to 432. Then we added
100 + 100 + 10 + 2 = 212. If you manually subtract 432 -220 you also get 212!
Language
Today we had our
library day. This allows the students to have access to a bigger selection of
books and enjoy some reading time. We also continued work on using direct
quotations.
U.O.I. (Unit of Inquiry)
Today we learned
about fire safety. We talked about how to stay fire safe and drew an escape
plan from our bedroom!
I hope everyone has
a wonderful night!!
