Another sad note from Mrs. Kerr today as she once again was disappointed in the behavior of our grade 4’s. Hopefully our next art class will be better.

SJA Parent Guild movie night is tomorrow, Friday, October 23 from 6:30-8:30 PM. Free child care will happen between 6:00-6:30 PM. Feel free to bring a pillow and a blanket to get cozy!!

Math

I have marked the unit 2 tests. Please look them over, sign them and return them to school. Overall I was happy with the outcome…just some silly mistakes in some addition and subtraction questions. Double-checking is something we will continue to work on throughout the year. We did not have math today as we were invited to watch some presentations by the grade 5’s. Tomorrow we start our third unit Geometry. We will begin with a pre-assessment.

Language

Today we enjoyed some quiet reading time in the library and began to write a mystery story. This is something we will be working on next week as well.

U.O.I. (Unit of Inquiry)

Today we continued working on our summative assessment for this unit. If the rough copy is any evidence of how the good copies will turn out they will be fabulous! Students are asked to create a brochure about safety. It should include colour, pictures, and information on bike safety, fire safety, water safety, house safety, and road safety, with a minimum of 5 bullets. Each bullet must be a complete sentence and they have to write in cursive. They will be able to find information on these topics in their UOI duo tang. I have posted some pictures of examples and a picture of the rubric! We will be working on the brochures the rest of the week and the final copy will be due on Monday, October 26.
